Sea Shell Pendant

Sea Shell Pendant

I saw these shell pendants and immediately fell in love. They have so many swirling colors, while reminding me of summer at the beach. They look rather intimidating to make but in less than 1 hour you can also have a lovely pendant to call your own or gift to others.

What you will need

Fine wire (tarnish resistant)  –  I used a  28 gauge pink wire.

Crochet hook – I used a 1.75 mm hook.

Head Pin – which ever design you like. (most be longer than the pendant bead you are using)

Beads – 1 Pendant (with smooth edges) and 2 seed beads

Round Wire pliers– this is for making a loop for a chain

Scissors/ wire cutter – to cut the wire of course (it’s very fine so normal scissors will work for the 28 gauge.) I would recommend wire cutters for shortening the head pin.

Step 1)

Push the head bead all the way so that the bottom is flush with the bottom of your pendant. Taking the round wire pliers make a large loop with the end being plush against the head pin wire. if your head pin is too long the cut it to shorten it to the proper length.

Step 2)

Taking the 28 gauge wire chain 4.

Step 3)

We are going to do a Tunisian basic crochet stitch until we reach the desired length. Once your Tunisia stitch reaches about 90% around your pendant stop and fasten off.

If you are unsure about how to do a Tunisian stitch you can look here for the instructions

Step 4)

Take the beginning tail and weave it around your loop and the Tunisian cord so that it will not come off (try about 3 times).

Step 5)

Take the end tail and wrap it around the same place stitch at the beginning of your Tunisian cord. This should be the first section where the beginning and end come together. once again wrap the wire around the loop tightly and weave into the end of your Tunisian cord.

Step 6)

Taking the renaming amount of beginning tail wire add the 2 seed beads and wrap around the same stitch of the other side of the Tunisian cord. Take both tails and either wrap around the loop 1 more time and tuck the tails so that they are below the Tunisian cord.

Step 7)

Fold the Tunisian cord around the pendant so that it will fit snugly all around it. you can doe this will your fingers by applying pressure or with pliers.

Final Step)

Add a chain because you are ready to rock your new pendant!
