2D Heart

2D Heart

This heart is way to cute and perfect for that day coming up Valentines day! It is made by making a square and then adding in a fan cluster on each side to give it that heart look!

This works just as well with yarn as it does with wire (note that the wire version will probably be smaller). Yarn will be noted in red.

note ~ this pattern does use the Tunisian stitch for the box part of the heart.

Don’t know Tunisian stitch? There is a basic tutorial ~ Here

What you will need

Fine wire (tarnish resistant)  –  28 gauge wire. I used a silver 28 gauge.   Yarn – Weight: Medium (4) /

Crochet hook – I used a 3/2. 10 mm hook.                                                       Hook – 3.75 mm

Beads – If you want to make it look pretty!

Scissors – to cut the wire of course (it’s very fine so normal scissors will work).

note ~ if you can’t see the pictures click on them and they will get bigger!

Step 1

chain 7, and do the Tunisian stitch until you are 1 row away from a square (or as close to a square as you can get).  Which should be 4 rows of Tunisian stitch.

You can make this bigger by increasing the square and hump sizes!

Step 2

Using the vertical bars in the previous row single crochet across the row.

Step 3

Slip stitch towards your beginning tail stop when you have gone half way around. You want to get as close to the edge of the corner since this is where we are going to start the humps of the heart.

Step 4

Forming the hump

You will be crocheting into the same stitch with the DC, TC,

chain 1, skip 2, TC , chain 1, TC, chain 1, DTC, chain 1, TC, chain 1, TC, chain 1, skip 1, slip stitch.

Step 5

Second hump

You will be crocheting into the same stitch with the DC, TC,

chain 1, skip 1, TC , chain 1, TC, chain 1, DTC, chain 1, TC, chain 1, TC, chain 1, skip 2, slip stitch.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

I will add pictures of the completed wire heart, it is just easier to show the steps with yarn.

Congratulations you made a awesome heart! GO YOU!
